John Cleese

I think I noticed how funny John Cleese's face was long before I knew who he was.

This was my favorite film growing up and still ranks in my top five.

Inktober Day 24: Princess Leia

My daughter's a recent Star Wars fan, and she's dressing as Princess Leia for Halloween. She also really wants a double bladed light saber with the crossguard blades.

Inktober Catch Up Day 21: Just let me in

This sums up 95% of the nightmares I had as a kid.

Inktober Catch Up Day 20: More Doxies and Cornelius Fudge

Trying to do all these catch up sketches is getting confusing. I accidentally posted 2 on Day 20. The first are yet another take on the doxies from the Harry Potter books, this time with the appropriate number of arms.

and below is my take on Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge.

Inktober Catch Up Day 18: Stork

Inspired by a book about life in Holland in 1566.

Inktober Catch Up Day 17: Another Doxy

Another Doxy, one of the biting pixies from Harry Potter.

Inktober Catch Up Day 16: Dutch Farmer

I found a book on life in Holland in 1566, with lots of great costume details and facial expressions. I draw things wholly from imagination way too much and it's nice to have some reference once in a while to add variety.

Inktober Catch Up Day 15: Doxies

I wanted to draw some Doxies, biting pixies from the Harry Potter books. I knew they were covered in black hair, but forgot that they are supposed to have 4 arms. Do your research! Oh well.

Inktober Day 9- Vampire Girl

Have I told you about my new friend Lily?
We like to play and be real silly
And i like it, but mom says its weird
For a girl Lily's age to be pointy-eared.
She uses strange words for an 8 year old
And her skin is always shivery cold
But she does lots of things
That i think are neat
Like how well she can use her feet
To hang upside down from a monkey bar
Or jump right over my grandma's car
And though she's messy sometimes with red splattered paint
I've really only got one complaint
It really limits your time at the park
When your friend only visits after dark.

Inktober Day 4: A day late

I was out of town at Yosemite over the weekend so I'm a bit late posting this.

Disney's Mineral King attraction poster

I created this fake attraction poster, for Mineral King, which was a proposed Ski Resort that Walt Disney wanted to create in California. Development lagged on even after his death and the project ultimately died too. But it's fun to imagine what it would be like if there was a little Disney resort in the Mountains of California.

Sketch Dailies: The Joker

Several months ago the theme on Sketch Dailies was "The Joker" from Batman. I rarely color my sketch dailies entries, but thought I'd go for it with this one.

Pig Knight

This was another character suggested by the Character Design Randomizer. The prompt was:

Tortoise Monk

I have not seen the Kung Fu Panda movies, except for a few minutes of one of them, and there was an old wise turtle in it. I didn't intend for this to look like that character- I just like drawing turtle and they frequently end up being old turtles. I am told that this looks very much like the one in the KFP movies. Apologies to the artists who worked on those movies.

Just a girl and her robot

I've been using the Character Design Randomizer at this link, and it's pretty useful. It gives you some basic character appearance traits and it's really helped me to break out of drawing the same old things all the time. The prompt I used for this sketch was:

Body Type: Medium
Clothing: Risque Dress
Head Type: Female
Weapon/Accessory: Robot Familiar

First Year Hufflepuff

Remember this guy? I posted a sketch of him quite a while ago . Well, he's all painted now. By an overwhelming majority vote on Instagram, he was sorted into Hufflepuff House.
