They're a little bit of both. I'm sure this isn't a totally original idea, but it's fun nonetheless.

Just thought I'd try my hand at some faeries. Not something I normally draw, and nothing too inspiring this round, but a good excuse to draw some sexy girls. Maybe I'll try again with better results.

As a kid I remember watching a Spanish import cartoon called "The World of David the Gnome" , based on the beautiful book about Gnomes by by the Dutch author Wil Huygen and illustrator Rien Poortvliet , which I had briefly seen some years before. The animation of the show wasn't great, but I loved the peek into this secret world. The antagonist of the show was often a group of trolls. Again the designs on the show left a lot to be desired but the beautiful watercolor paintings in the book depict trolls as haunted looking creatures, dirty and hairy with glowing eyes. I did the one below loosely based on those memories.

A wee purple beastie

Just a really quick (sligthly sloppy) digital color job. I love using fanciful colors on these sorts of characters. I'm sure that stems from my love of the Muppets and all their colorful creatures.

I intended this to be a drastically different design than the illustratioin I had done before, and it turned out with almost identical features. Oh well.

Send in the Griffins

Some more Griffin sketches, which I'm so much happier than my previous attempts. I changed their forelimbs to eagle type claws as seen in most depictions.
