Sing a song of Pirate Cats

Oh sing us a song of cats on the sea
For though they are brigands, they're braver than we

For these lowlife felines, the sea holds allure
When staying ashore would mean jail time for sure

But life on the sea's not the parole you might think

'Cause in prison at least there's no chance that you'll sink.

21 Days of Halloween Day 6- Creeper

Creeper
by Eric Scales

Shadow's cloak, night's embrace
Ivy vines obscuring face
Peering eyes through iron gates
Where least suspected
Creeper waits

Goblins

The Goblins Are Coming
by Eric Scales

When the moon is all slight in that thin crescent way
And the mist through the trees wraps around
Then the Goblins set out to steal someone away
To slave in their mines underground

And they're coming tonight to take you away
The Goblins are coming for you
There's nothing at all you can do or can say
The Goblins are coming for you.

A goblin band is hard to turn away once it's set out
And there really is no chance that they've disbanded
You're the only pick up scheduled for this evening and I doubt
That they'd waste the trip and go home emptyhanded

And they're coming tonight to take you away
The Goblins are coming for you
There's nothing at all you can do or can say
The Goblins are coming for you.

So you'd better get used to doing all the hard things that you're told
For your goblin-free life here will soon be through
They're not coming to help the cobbler or to spin straw into gold
No, the Goblins, child, are coming here for you.

A is for Anteater

I've decided to create a little assignment for myself. Faced with the prospect of not being able to post my work for Disney any longer, I started wondering what sort of material I would be able to put up on this blog with any regularity. I don't get out to figure draw nearly as much as I'd like and honestly my favorite/most successful drawings are generally quick character sketches. But even those are few and far between without a specific assignment to spur them into being. So I decided, simply to give myself some structure, I'm going to go through the alphabet, doing an animal sketch for each letter. I don't know that it will be every day, but at least when I get that "gotta post something feeling", at least I will have a starting place. I may go all the way to color with some of these, or they may just be quick sketches- the point is just to keep drawing.

And so I present the letter A...
Anteater
Anteater- a poem by Eric
(written very late at night)
Oh if I were an anteater
How grand life would be
On a branch I would teeter
way up in my tree
And the ants would all swarm
in their special ant way
but I'd never eat 'em-
I like burritos.
